A inquisitive man asked this question to a Zen master:
‒ After living 100 years, How a monk life continuing?
Response Zen Master :
‒ He will be monkey, donkey or horse.
‒ And after that ?
‒ He will go to Hell *.
‒ But Master! You who are a paragon of virtue, how is it possible that you have a rebirth in the Underworld?
‒ If it’s not me who descend into the Underworld, who will be there to show you the Dharma ?
If the Dharma is only present in the paradise of pure wisdom and light: Dharma leaves all the empty places regarded as dirty and polluted, such as dirty toilets or languishing in prisons where the other thieves and murderers.
Dharma includes all places, including those that you consider foul and polluted. Dharma is present in all the Paradise, but also where the Dharma is the most crucial: in the underworld.
* But this is not rebirth or deaf and blind in the same continuity, it is a rebirth of choice and awareness.
