After working with established actors like Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan, director Ashutosh Gowariker wants to cast a newcomer for his next film, Buddha. The film will bring one of the most iconic characters in history on the big screen.

A source says, “Buddha is an epic story that will appeal to young as well as a mature audience worldwide. After many discussions with the producer, Ashutosh came to the conclusion that only a newcomer can do justice to the role. He didn’t want any established actor for the film as he didn’t want a star’s image to come in the way of the character. That’s when he decided to have a contest.”

Commenting on the film, producer Dr Bhupendra Kumar Modi says, “This film is about a man who brought India to the world’s notice by prophesising a philosophy that can get the world together as one family. Making this kind of a film is the need of the hour because of our stressful life. The youth of today can connect with the search undertaken by Siddhartha in the film.”

Elaborating on the film, director Ashutosh Gowariker says,”I have always been fascinated with the story of Prince Siddhartha who renounced his luxurious life and family to search for an answer about what causes human suffering. He subsequently attained enlightenment and came to be known as Gautam Buddha. I need a fresh actor who can portray the innocence of Prince Siddhartha and the compassion of the enlightened one. This is why we have this worldwide search. I welcome actors from all over the world to visit our website,
www.buddhamovie.com, download the sample scenes and upload their audition videos and pictures.”
