The Teachings of Hui-neng
Sixth Patriarch of Chan, at the beginning of Southern school, which gives the method for obtaining enlightenment instantly, here and now.
At a major meeting that gathered his followers by thousands, he uttered these stanzas:
My Friends,
When of past, present and future
No moment of consciousness is polluted by the mistake
Was our old negative acts suddenly disappear
And then there is repentance in our essence as soon they are abolished.
When of past, present and future
No moment of consciousness is contaminated by the stupidity
The old states of mind false are abolished
This perpetual abolition is called repentance essential.
When of past, present and future
No moment of consciousness is polluted by hatred
Old Hate mental states disappear
And then there is repentance in our essence they are abolished.
The concept of repentance is effective when the mind submits to the Mahaprajnaparamita posing at its root that all phenomena are empty, devoid of essential features they neither arise nor cease.

I support my understanding of this stanza attributed to the Sixth Patriarch Hui-neng, on the one proposed by Patrick Carré in his translation of the Sutra Estrada, Editions du Seuil 1995.
The question of negligence and absolve them for liberation from the endless cycle of reincarnation is constant in Buddhism, but also in other systems of belief.
The strength of the Buddha which gives us Transcendent Wisdom is in the final extinction of beliefs when the mind is liberated from the magical illusion produced by the five poisons. : Repentance is only inherently a designation empty.
