“This time, we have decided to promote Kesariya Buddhist site which is less popular than Rajgir, Vaishali and Nalanda, Sanjay Sreevats, assistant DG of India tourism told The Times of India(TOI).
Facing a possible decline in tourism by swine flu, the city Kesariya in sourthern India orgnaized a week long promtion tour for a thai group of 32, including managers and directers in the industry.
Travel operators, hotel magnates and travel writers from Thailand had a Buddhist circuit in Bihar, UP and Nepal, in the aime of promoting the site of longest Buddhist stupa at Kesariya in East Champaran and other Bihari products at the coming trade fair at Bangkok on September 6, accoring to the TOI.
Kesariya Buddhist Stupa at Kesariya is based in East Champaran district approximately, 150 km from Patna. The Stupa is believed to date back to around 200 AD to 750 AD, as a memorial of the death of Lord Buddha. It opened to visitors since 1998. 104 feet high and 1400 feet of circumference, the Stupa is considered to be an example of Buddhist architecture and archaeological preservation.
