October 16 is World Food Day. Food production, distribution and marketing are global socio-economic issues. World Food Day helps raise people’s awareness of problems in food supply and distribution. World Food Day is celebrated every year around the world in honor of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945. The day is celebrated widely by many other organizations concerned with food security, including the World Food Program and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
