Nepal — Sood unveils Muktinath Dharmashala

Indian envoy to Nepal Rakesh Sood inaugurated a newly constructed Dharmashala amidst a function at Muktinath in Mustang district on June 20.

The Dharmashala has been built with the assistance of Rs 3 crores from the Government of India under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme (INECP). The project has been implemented by the District Development Committee (DDC) Mustang.

Muktinath Temple considered to be one of Nepal’s most sacred religious shrines and equally revered in India, is located in Ward No. 1 of Muktinath VDC in the district and is a symbol of age old cultural bonds between India and Nepal.

The recently constructed building will be a boon for followers of religions like Hinduism and Buddhism. The dream of locals to built a suitable facility with good quality and affordable accommodation for pilgrims and tourists has materialised after the construction of the Dharmashala.

The building has a capacity of 44 beds with a separate space for reception, meditation room, kitchen, cafeteria, dining hall and a guard-house and it would be run by the DDC Mustang.

The INECP has been providing assistance of Rs 5700 crores for more than 370 large and small projects completed or currently being implemented in all districts of Nepal in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development.

The development projects have been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal and these infrastructures stand as a symbol of the deep friendship that characterises the relationship between India and Nepal.
