His Holiness Phakchok Rinpoche, who is based in Nepal, will be giving a series of teachings at Gomde Lindholme Hall, in the middle of the Hatfield Moors, from June 26 and a public talk at the Friends Meeting House in Hyde Park on July 1.

Born in 1981, he was recognised as being the sixth in the line of the Riwoche Phakchok incarnations. Tibetan Buddhists believe that enlightened masters can choose to be reborn so that they can continue to benefit people with their teachings.

Phakchok Rinpoche is the Supreme Head of the Taklung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, abbot of a monastery in Chapagaon in the southern Kathmandu Valley, and head of Riwoche Monastery in Tibet’s Dokham region.

An enthusiastic and vibrant young lama, his teachings are direct, accessible and always fresh, opening up minds in a playful and inspiring way, helping people to find calmness in the midst of their hectic modern lives, said Paulette Benjamin, one of the trustees.

He is one of the first teachers to visit Gomde Lindholme Hall, near Hatfield Woodhouse, which is being developed as a centre for the teaching and practice of Tibetan Buddhism.

“We are delighted to welcome such an outstanding teacher to Gomde Lindholme Hall. It gives an auspicious start to our plan to turn Gomde into a Buddhist centre of international importance as well as an asset to this area,” added Paulette.

Already the centre hosts a thriving weekly meditation and discussion group for local residents, and other senior lamas have agreed to visit this year.
