A daily 20-minute “Buddhist Spiritual Program” named “Noble Wisdom” will be telecasted on daily basis on the Sadhana TV Channel from this week onwards, a Delhi-based Buddhist society has announced.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will inaugurate the program when its boradcast begins on Thursday, Sherab Sangpo Society (SSS), which has initiated the program, said in its press statement.
Thursday (May 27) coincides with Buddha Purnima (Tib: SaKa Dawa), the day marking the three most important stages in the life of Lord Buddha – his birth, enlightenment and parinirvana.
“On this auspicious day, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama will be inaugurating the program from Patna, a staff from the society informed Phayul.
The program will be telecasted for 20 minutes on Sadhana Channel from 18.20 to 18.40 (IST) on a daily basis, he added.
The Dalai Lama will be in Patna in the the Indian state of Bihar around the same time to inaugurate a proposed Buddha Memorial Park there.
India is the birth place of Buddha Dharma and has a sizeable Tibetan Buddhist population, mainly concentrated in the northern Himalayan belt.
“Through this program we intend to spread the Buddha’s message which still holds a great relevance in today’s world,” the Society’s Statement said.
“This will provide the people an access to Buddhist teachings and activities. The program will aim to reach Buddhist Communities worldwide through the medium of television,” it added.
The program also aims to empower people belonging to different communities and denominations to lead a life free from negative emotions and actions, the statement said, adding that the society “is committed to making a quality Buddhist programs accessible to every household.”
To make the program accessible to viewers, the society says it will distribute free set up box required to be installed by local cable operators.
Sadhana TV Channel, which claims to have its network in over 27 countries, including India, is a “socio-spiritual platform, spreading awareness on the rich Indian Culture and Heritage to people all over the world”.
