Tibetan people in the northern Himalayan town of Dharamsala prayed for the quick recovery and well being of the earthquake victims of Kyigudo, Kham Province in Tibet on the fourth week of the natural disaster, Tuesday morning at Tsuglag Khang, Mcleod Ganj.
This special prayer was organized by the Welfare Society Dhokham Chushi Gangdrug based in New Delhi.
The special prayer was graced by the presence of His Eminence the Gyalwa Karmapa and Denma Locho Rinpoche. The prayer was attended by the Justice commissioners, Deputy speaker and the Members of Tibetan Parliament, hundreds of monks, nuns and lay people and some foreign sympathisers.
The prayer lasted for about two hours. During the prayer Ven. Yungdung Gyaltsen, member of parliament said, 14 April earthquake in Kyigudo is an unprecedented devastating tremor in Tibet which has never happened in history of Tibet.
This natural disaster has caused vast damage to the lives and the livings resulting in great unbearable pain to the people. Although the exile Tibetans’ wish to reduce the suffering of the quake victims; because of the present conditions couldn’t be there at the spot to relieve the pain.
But His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the great lamas of Tibetan Buddhism and the exile brothers and sisters have conveyed their deep solidarity and prayers to the people at Kyigudo.
Ven. Yungdung Gyaltsen said about the various solidarity contributions made by the Welfare Society Dhokham Chushi Gangdrug from different parts of world to the quake victims by means of generous prayers and monetary means.
Ven. Yungdung Gyaltsen said the society’s New York discipline have contributed about 16,000 US dollar through Office of Tibet and Dharamsala branch have contributed Indian rupees 51,179 through the Tibetan Settlement Office Dharamsala.
