Chinese Theravada Buddhist Association & Siladidhamma Pavarasaya Vihara – Malaysia

The Chinese Theravada Buddhist Association is an international Buddhist Association formed by Bhikkhu Dhammavaro for all Buddhists of Chinese origin, whether Chinese or English speaking Theravadin. It is formed with the sole aim of providing a place where we can learn, exchange and propagate Theravada Buddhism.

Bhikkhu Dhammavaro is the Abbot of two Theravada Monasteries; one in Malaysia, ie; the SIladidhamma Pavarasaya Vihara in Pengkalan Hulu, Perak; and one in Australia, ie; the Buddharatana Monastery of Australia. He is also the Abbot of Kuala Kangsar Guanyin Temple in Perak, Malaysia.

CTBA’s Mission:
– To provide a web based international monastery for the CTBA lay buddhists, monks and nuns whereby they can learn to cultivate Sila (morality), Samadhi (concentration) and Panna (wisdom);
– To provide training to suitable lay practitioners for ordination as Buddhist monks, nuns and novices;
– To provide a place of un-superstitious public worship;
– To provide opportunities for lay buddhists, monks and nuns to become future Dhamma and meditation teachers, and to carry out the Buddhist Teachings to all Buddhists and to others who want to learn about and the practice of Buddhism;
– To organise and lead the congregation, worship and other traditional Buddhist religious activities;
– To organise religious instruction for children and youths so that they may be aware of the ethical and moral values of Buddhism and so become a better citizen of their country;
– To render spiritual assistance and/or counseling to members or to any Buddhist in times of need;
– To conduct training programs on Buddhist youth leadership and community service;
– To teach Buddhist meditation practises and offer organized meditation retreats on a regular basis to members of the CTBA; and to provide facilities in a suitable monastery for a limited number of people to undergo private self-funded meditation retreats. These retreats will be supervised by the senior monastic monks.
– To provide religious services for the CTBA and for Buddhists of other nationalities;
– To be the spiritual body to guide, assist and care for Buddhists in general and aged Buddhists in particular;
– To organise and/or sponsor public talks, forums and seminars on Buddhism and other related subjects;
– To publish journals, newsletters and books on Buddhism and other related subjects;
– To promote and safeguard friendship between Buddhist monks, nuns, and Buddhists in general and people of other religions and their religious organisations.

The Siladidhamma Pavarasaya Vihara (Chong Sheng Shi 崇圣寺) is a Registered (Malaysian Buddhsit Association) Chinese Theravada Buddhist Temple situated near Kg. Tasek, Pengkalan Hulu, Perak. This is a Chinese medium Theravada tradition Buddhist temple in West Malaysia.
