Kagyu Kunkhyab Chuling is a Vajrayana Buddhist Dharma Centre in British Columbia, Canada, under the guidance of His Eminence Kalu Rinpoche, Supreme Head of the Shangpa Kagyu Lineage, whose Main Seat is Samdrub Darjay Choling Monastery near Sonada in Darjeeling District, West Bengal, India.
H.E. Kalu Rinpoche, the first teaching Tibetan Lama to establish a Dharma centre in North America, founded Kagyu Kunkhyab Chuling in 1972 at Vancouver BC as the first Vajrayana Buddhist Dharma Centre in North America and His Primary Seat for Teaching, Blessing, and Activity in North America.
KKC has served the British Columbia public for over 35 years by
– supporting the presence and activities of our resident Lamas,
– providing blessed spaces for practice and study of the Dharma,
– maintaining a weekly schedule of a dozen or more meditation sessions,
– sponsoring a stream of teachings, empowerments, and retreats,
– hosting the visits of many eminent Kagyu Rinpoches.
KKC exists to serve all who wish to learn about and proceed along the path of Buddha Dharma taught to us by H.E. Kalu Rinpoche, and to enhance the understanding in British Columbia of Himalayan cultures, Tibetan language, and Vajrayana Buddhism.

Kunzang Dechen Osel Ling (KDOL)-The Meditaton Retreat Land of Kagyu Kunkhyab Chuling
Established 1975 on Mt. Tuam, Saltspring Island by Khyabje Kalu Rinpoche to provide traditional three-year three-month intensive training retreats, group teaching and practice retreats, and personal meditation retreats. Named “Kunzang Dechen Osel Ling” (KDOL) by Khyabje Kalu Rinpoche after the Kham, eastern Tibet location of his own three year retreat.
Kalu Rinpoche established Kagyu Kunkhyab Chuling (KKC) as his first Dharma Centre in the western world in 1972 to teach Buddhadharma and transmit the Shangpa Kagyu lineage practice and realization, serving practicioners in the Lower Mainland and Islands of British Columbia.
