One vehicle carring Malaysian buddhist aid volonteers to Ladakh ran off the mountain route on Tuesday, causing three deaths, two serious injuries and one missing, according to BuddhistChannel.tv

The three deceased Malaysians were identified as Angie Lee, 52, Lee Ah Yem, 59, and one female passenger Tan Guat Gnoh, 54. The injured : Renee Lim Bee Hong, 47, and the local cab driver Tsering Stobdan. Another passanger Cheong Swee Chun, 42 is still missing up to now.
The victims are part of a vonlonteer group of Malaisian buddhist to help people in Ladakh in Northen India. The accident happened during their journey from Leh to Timongsang, when a car ran off the road and fall into a steep valley until dropping into Indus river. The rest 30 of the group travelling in other vehicles are confirmed safe.
The visiting to Lahakh from 21 to 31 August was orgnized by Ladakh Maha Bodhi Society headed by Ven. Sanghasena. Remote, hilly and rugged, Ladakh is a district in Kashimir in Northen Indiain nesteling in the Himalayan Range, one of the poorest regions in India.
The bodies of the three volonteers are expected to arrive Kuala Lumpur on August 27 from New Delhi, India.
A great loss
Reports has claimed a great loss of this tragic which “has taken the lives of some of the most devout Buddhist volunteers.”
“Tan Guat Gnoh, or better known as GG Tan was one of the most fervent supporters of Dharma based activities in Kuala Lumpur. She frequently helped in the organizing of many Dhamma propagation programmes, namely the printing of CDs and books, arranging talks, WACANA Conference, and fund-raising assistance the poor in India and elsewhere.
Julie Ang was a tour organizer for Nalanda Buddhist Institute on many occasions, besides being the hostess for groups of visiting monks and nuns to Malaysia who are guests of the Institute.
Lee Ah Yem was a devout member of the Buddhist community and was active in the Sentul Temple and Maha Karuna Buddhist Society.”—buddhistchannel.tv
