East London, South Africa–A group of Malawian orphans from the Amitofo Care Centre brought a Chinese Kung Fu show to the East London audience in South Africa this week, according to the reports of local media.

Kicking, somersaulting in the air, drilling with sticks and breaking hard objets wih heads, 25 Malawian boys aged from 7 to 17 performed at the Arts Theatre Club the martial arts taught by masters of the Shao Lin Temple. This is the second time that the group tours in South Africa to raise awareness and funds for the ACC which, founded by a Taiwan buddhist master in the 1990s, has opened homes in several afrian countries and has given about 3000 orphans a home to date.

An chinese langue tutor of who takes care of the children in the orphanage told the Daily Dispatch that the orphans will learn chinese language and practice meditation every day. “We were brought up to respect each other but somehow our African culture lost its glory due to European ideologies. The Chinese culture has withstood that, and teaching African kids about it will only help us retain our humanity,” said he to Daily Dispatc.
